Ellie Baer Harding is the founder and principal designer of Harding Home, a San Francisco based interior design studio where the client is the muse.
A commercial operator turned designer, Ellie brings years of building businesses from scratch — and the strategic clarity, relentless curiosity, and exacting standards that come with it — to every project she takes on. The result is a practice that is as rigorously managed as it is deeply felt.
Her design philosophy is rooted in the belief that no two spaces should look alike, because no two people are alike. She works closely with each client to surface what is singular about the way they live — then builds around it. Color, texture, utility, and emotional resonance are not afterthoughts. They are the whole point.
Ellie draws inspiration from travel, music, film photography, and the quiet accumulation of a life well-curated. She is drawn to the quality of studied ease, where nothing looks too hard and everything feels just right. Her spaces are layered and considered, personal without being precious, and always made to be lived in.
Each project she touches reflects a love of the specific and a refusal to default. Collected, not decorated. Cohesive, not matched. Yours, not anyone else's.
Ellie's superpower is that she's extremely intuitive when it comes to creating a space. She perceived what our room needed before I'd found the words for it. Our nursery had occupied weeks of my headspace, and her process was so collaborative and streamlined that it suddenly felt manageable. Once she was involved, I felt totally at ease. There's a thoughtfulness to everything she does, from how she communicates to how she sources pieces. She works quickly and incorporates feedback with precision. And she's a genuine pleasure to spend time with!
